Requirements and compatibility#
PocketHook 1.4 supports saved server profiles on iOS/iPadOS 26 or later and compatible Macs. One server is free, including manual and QR setup. Multiple saved servers require an active Pro trial, Pro purchase or legacy paid-app entitlement. One purchase covers all profiles. Existing Pro features retain their own access requirements.
Attaching or pasting an image in chat was already free and remains so. In 1.4, you can also enable local photo-library links without Pro. Enable this feature in Settings and grant the appropriate iOS permission.
You can still connect any compatible HTTPS endpoint. Agent Server 0.8.0 adds optional QR pairing; it is not required for manual setup. The SDK remains 0.1.3 and Apple Bridge remains 0.6.0. Attachments and asynchronous results keep the 1.3 protocol requirements.
Add and switch servers#
- Open Settings → Manage servers → Add server.
- Enter the HTTPS endpoint and token manually, scan a QR invitation or import its image.
- Give the profile a name and, optionally, an emoji. An empty emoji uses the default icon.
- Test the connection and save. Switch servers using the selector at the top of the chat.
Each server keeps its own chat, draft, links, session and pending work. Edit connection details, timeouts, health checks, pending-job settings and Personal UI in that server’s settings. Editing another server does not make it active. Tap the selected UI tab again to reload its current page.
Appearance and navigation#
Open Settings → Manage servers → your server → Appearance → Styles. Choose an image from Photos or Files, remove it, set colors for your messages and replies, and adjust bubble opacity. The preview shows the result. Text and images do not lose opacity. Reset bubble colors restores the automatic colors.
Apply background to all servers is available with multiple profiles and copies only the image to servers added on this device. It preserves their colors, opacity and individual sync choices. Wallpapers and colors are never sent to the server; they sync through iCloud only for profiles with sync enabled. These options are free.
Mac and wide iPad windows support top or sidebar navigation; iPhone keeps bottom tabs. Liquid Glass controls follow system settings. Reduce Transparency takes precedence over your bubble opacity choice. Reply options appear as a card with one row per option, using the server’s reply color.
Generate an Agent Server invitation#
On the Mac running Agent Server 0.8.0, with Xcode command line tools installed:
bun run app:qr
The command reads local configuration and discovers a matching HTTPS address from an existing Tailscale setup or the saved tunnel configuration. It does not create or reconfigure a tunnel. If discovery is ambiguous or no public address is available, follow the command’s guidance to supply the address. The phone must be able to reach it; a private Tailscale address still requires network access through Tailscale.
The terminal displays the QR; bun run app:qr --open also opens its image. Invitations expire after five minutes, are single-use, and are invalidated by generating another or restarting the server. Regenerate one if it has expired. The QR contains a temporary code; redeeming it over HTTPS returns the connection credentials.
Treat the invitation as access to your server. It uses the server owner’s credential, not a separate user account. Multiple profiles in PocketHook do not add multiple isolated users to Agent Server. Do not publish real QR images or put them in documentation or repositories. See the server pairing reference.
Shortcuts, sharing and pending results#
Actions that use a server expose a Server parameter. Choose a saved profile to keep an automation aimed at that destination. Existing actions without a selection retain the original profile, rather than following the chat’s active server. The share sheet also lets you choose where content goes. A removed or locked destination produces an error; the app does not silently send its content elsewhere.
An in-flight request retains its source server. While the app is active, it checks pending jobs for enabled profiles even when another chat is open. Tapping Chat again requests a check. In the background, the operating system controls polling and does not guarantee an exact delivery time.
Upgrade, storage and Pro#
Choose Sync this server with iCloud to share its name, emoji, chat wallpaper, bubble colors and opacity, connection settings, delivered messages and saved links. Other devices list it under Available in iCloud; you choose where to add it, and its history downloads only after you do. Keep sync off for a device-only server. The selected server, drafts and pending sends remain independent on every device. Authentication tokens sync securely through iCloud Keychain when server sync is enabled. Enable iCloud Keychain on both devices using the same Apple Account; credentials may arrive separately from the profile. You do not need to copy the token obtained by QR. The original conversation retains its existing iCloud synchronization.
Manage servers checks iCloud when opened. Refresh iCloud lets you check again and shows progress and the last check. Profile, history and credential delivery can take time; a profile without credentials shows that it is waiting for Keychain before allowing a send.
When Pro is unavailable, choose one free server. Other profiles remain saved but locked; purchasing or restoring Pro unlocks them. Removing a profile from this device disconnects it and removes its local credentials. It does not erase remote data or promise deletion of historical local or iCloud records. See the privacy policy.
For a custom server, no new mandatory protocol is needed to support multiple profiles. Each profile sends requests to its own endpoint with its own credential and session. QR pairing is an optional addition, separate from the existing chat protocol.
